Video: Adele - Brit Awards 2012

The 2012 Brit Awards were more lavish than ever from the fashion to the big scale performances to the superstar guests. The night kicked off with Coldplay who have had a fantastic year already with the success of their album Mylo Xyloto, and got the crowd warmed up and ready for the night ahead.

First up for an award was pint-sized star Bruno Mars who joked that "This [statue] is almost taller than me", as he accepted his International Male Solo Artist award from Jessie J and comedian Jack Whitehall. Jessie was dressed in a revealing red lace dress and was dancing away throughout the evening to all the acts and gave massive applause to all the winners even though unfortunately this year she missed out on an award herself.

The big winner on the night however had to be the one we were all rooting for, Adele, who has had a big come back since suffering from illness for months. Her performance had everyone up on their feet singing and dancing to ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and the smiles on everyone’s faces proved that she was a deserving winner of the Best Female Solo Artist award.

Another deserving winner was Ed Sheeran who has had a whirlwind year full of success and it was clear he still hasn’t come to terms with his star status as he told the crowd "I’m not very good at this" whilst blushing when accepting his award for British Breakthrough Act.

Rihanna took to the stage to get the party started with ‘We Found Love’ dressed in an oversized cream jumper, barely there hot pants and Timberland boots. Her curly blonde hair was flicking around as she danced and her moves were impressive as she incorporated a Caribbean feel to the performance. When the Barbados-born beauty accepted her award earlier in the evening for International Female Artist she was dressed very differently in a stunning gold gown which sparkled from afar. She said, “Thanks to all my fans who continue to support me no matter what - I love you, this is for you. And at times when I feel misunderstood my fans always remind me that it’s OK to be myself and I will never forget you for that, so thank you.”

The drama of the evening came when Adele flipped her middle finger up after being rudely interrupted by host James Corden as there was no time left to hear her emotional acceptance speech after she won the big award of the night for British Album of the Year.

Blur played the evening out with a medley of their hits including ‘Girls & Boys’ and ‘Parklife’ which had everyone dancing away and reeling from a brilliant evening, which went on long into the night at the various after parties across London.

Music News had a fab night so congrats to all the organisers, nominees and winners!
